Everyone absorbs and processes information in different ways and the goal of the STEM outreach program, Engineering Practices in Color (EPIC), is to teach science and engineering with a colorful approach while providing support for different learning styles. Using a multisensory curriculum, we teach the fundamentals of STEM through hands-on activities to local middle school students in Richmond, VA with the intent to gain interest and broaden participation in STEM fields. With EPIC, we hope to remove the one-size-fits-all approach to learning and update the educational practices of STEM, starting on a small scale, while celebrating the diversity of learning.
